Africa, the mesmerizing continent known for its rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and incredible wildlife, beckons travellers from around the globe. The long rains typically occur from March to May, while the short rains fall between October and December. If you plan to visit Eastern Africa during the summer, it’s best to avoid the heavy rainfall periods and aim for the drier months of December to February and June through September. Kati and I always travel to this part of Africa at the beginning of September and it has always been great. This time of year offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, as the lush vegetation attracts a plethora of animals.

Having lived in Zimbabwe and South Africa, tourism slows down in the months from May through October, but it is still a great time to visit.

The summer months in this region experience high humidity and occasional rainfall. However, it’s worth noting that Western Africa is not as popular for wildlife safaris compared to other regions of the continent.
