Rome is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the world.  The ancient Roman ruins on almost every street corner, the Vatican and the food are all reasons to travel to Rome.  Even though I have been to Italy many times in past, I have always concentrated on Tuscany and Venice.  Kati and I  spent three days in Rome and fell in love with Italy all over again.

Rome is one of the most iconic cities in the world, and it is no surprise that it is a popular destination for travelers. With its ancient ruins, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture, Rome is a city that has something for everyone. Exploring Rome in three days is the perfect way to get a taste of the Eternal City. This guide will provide an overview of the best places to visit and activities to do in Rome over the course of three days.

Day One: Exploring the Ancient City

On the first day of exploring Rome, visitors should focus on the city’s ancient sites. Start the day by visiting the Colosseum, one of the most iconic symbols of Rome. Built in the first century AD, the Colosseum is a testament to the grandeur of the Roman Empire. After exploring the Colosseum, head to the Roman Forum, the political and religious center of the city. Here, visitors can explore the ruins of temples, government buildings, and other monuments.

Next, take a stroll through the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved ancient Roman buildings. The Pantheon is a marvel of engineering, with its massive dome and intricate interior. Afterward, take a break and enjoy a gelato or espresso in one of Rome’s many piazzas. Finally, end the day with a visit to the Trevi Fountain, one of the most famous fountains in the world.
